Revolut fees explained

The free Standard plan covers most everyday and travel use. As a guide, and worth checking for your exact case:

  • Standard plan: free, CHF 0 per month
  • Currency exchange: free up to a monthly allowance, then a small fee (around 0.5%)
  • A small markup can apply on weekends
  • ATM withdrawals: free up to a monthly limit, then a fee
  • Paid plans (Plus, Premium, Metal, Ultra) raise the limits for frequent travellers

For occasional travel the free plan is usually enough. Verify the current allowances on Revolut’s plans page, as they change.

How to redeem the Revolut coupon

  1. Join Revolut through the coupon link above.
  2. Add money and order your physical card.
  3. Make a few purchases as prompted in the app.
  4. The CHF 80 reward is credited to your account.

Who Revolut is best for

Revolut suits travellers and anyone who wants to hold and spend many currencies with almost no setup. For running a Swiss business, Wise is my choice; for a free Swiss everyday account, neon is simpler. For travel, Revolut is unbeatable.

Revolut review: pros, cons and personal experience

Revolut is my absolute favourite for travelling and I could not do without it. Opening an account takes seconds: someone once needed to pay me expenses in Polish zloty, and I simply opened a zloty account on the spot. That speed and flexibility is the whole appeal.

Pros of Revolut

  • The best app I know for travel
  • Open a new currency account in seconds
  • Instant peer-to-peer payments between Revolut users
  • A monthly fee-free exchange allowance on the free plan

Cons of Revolut

  • The free plan has monthly exchange limits; heavy or weekend use can add fees
  • For business in Switzerland I prefer Wise (no monthly fee, CAMT import)

Revolut vs Wise

For travel and personal spending, Revolut wins on speed and ease. For a Swiss GmbH, Wise is better: a one-time fee instead of a monthly subscription, and clean CAMT export into bexio and AbaNinja.
